We also hear that Chak De India is setting a record of sorts and recently the Aryans Business School (ABS) has included the movie as a part of their MBA curriculum. Apparently the film will be taken up for a case study that will help management students turn into effective leaders of tomorrow.

Sagarika caught the fancy of Apoorva when he saw her performance in Chak De India and approached the newcomer. Golmaal Returns, the much-awaited follow-up of the uproariously comic smash-hit Golmaal, arrives with renewed star power, chartbusting music and more laughter than before!

Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and a dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitly) from some goons.

Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife, a hardcore fan of saas-bahu serials, smells fish.

Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani carries the touch of director Rajkumar Kohli's yesteryear flicks like Nagin(Reena Roy, Feroz Khan) and Jaani Dushman (Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Dutt). Divya's two college friends Rajesh and Madan call her slyly to a secluded place and rape her. A molested and tortured Divya dies in Kapil's arms saying that all her college friends are responsible for her death.

Thereby begins the tale of revenge with Kapil vowing to kill every one who had hand in Divya's death. In this endeavor he is helped by dead Divya's spirit.

Divya, the re-incarnation of Vasundhara, is in love with Karan (Sunny Deol). Karan too loves Divya but he has to leave her to go to Britain for an important business deal. However, Karan leaves behind his younger brother Kapil (Munish Kohli) to pursue college studies and take care of Divya in his absence.

They target a yoga teacher, a widowed doctor and an unmarried girl with poverty. Chander tries out various ways to get close to them and searches for the mole. They may have stayed on at a superficial level had I not acted in the film but after working under Bhatt saab's patronage in ‘Jashn’, I am glad I could find my own self in the film", Anjana reflects in a philosophical tone.

While the film has been directed by the duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwaala, Mahesh Bhatt was there to lend a helping hand and come up with his own suggestions, something that he has done for majority of his films even after taking a voluntary retirement from direction.

"His presence on the sets helped because he has his own way of molding his actors. He turns you into something else and I can confidently say that together the entire team of ‘Jashn’ has come up with a superlative effort", she says with a visible glint in her eye.

"My career has just begun but I can proudly say that ‘Jashn’ is one of my benchmark films. I believe 'acting-dancing-singing' is an ideal combination for an all round entertainer. So acting was more like a natural progression for me.

Shazahn Padamsee can be highbrow and familiar with you all at once. One minute the talkative wide-eyed youngster, the other a careful debutante, who insists on choosing the picture that must appropriately accessorise the article. But Shazahn, the youngest of the Padamsees, is the girl of the moment. With many major brands in her advertising kitty and a Yash Raj movie – Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year – she’s the only one from her family to seek a career in films.

“Dad (adman Alyque Padamsee) played Jinnah in Gandhi and was offered Amrish Puri’s role in Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom,” says Shazahn. “But he declined because he would have to eat monkey brains! I’m pretty chilled out. I can sit around for hours in my vanity van and find ways to be occupied. My dad would go insane with the inactivity,”

Shazahn says.

Her half-siblings – Raell and Quasar – and mother Sharon, not to mention “dad” and his former wives – the late Pearl Padamsee and Dolly Thakore, are involved in theatre. “I was the last person to get into acting. My parents didn’t believe it when I told them that this is what I wanted to do. Though I’ve always been around the stage, helping with the props and production, I was very shy. And then Gary Richardson offered me a role, which he said involved ‘sitting onstage, reading a book’. It then expanded to ‘saying a few lines, like yes and no’. “I call my dad for every little thing. He always advises me to give my best shot. I take rejection very badly, but he is emphatic that I must get used to failure because there will be more of it than success. My mother is a darling and sugarcoats everything. Once on stage, she took courage from her father’s advice: Nervousness is another side of excitement. “Whenever I go on stage, all my nervous energy blooms into a performance,” she says. She was clear about stepping into films and was willing to wait for the right project. “I knew, I had time on my side since I look young, so I started working on my Hindi and got into modelling. Ask Shazahn about this and you have a surprise ‘wow’ for an answer. She is surprised at how information regarding her role reached the media. On further insistence, she says, “I have gone for a lot of film auditions and this was one of those. But there has not been any confirmation yet. It would be wrong on my part to talk about it, because the production house would get quite upset about it.” Smilingly, the to-be-star adds, “I am getting a lot of offers and I am considering a few of them. When I sign my first one, I will definitely let you know.”

Sources reveal that though many heroines auditioned, the crew selected Shazahn, who, according to them, has the right credentials. “For a long time, Yash Raj has been auditioning actors for the leading lady’s role. There are very few young actors who would fit the bill of a leading lady opposite Ranbir. After weeks of auditioning, it seems that Yash Raj has zeroed down on Shazahn Padamsee, thanks to her credentials,” a source said.

The daughter of two famous and creative personalities, Alyque Padamsee and Sharon Prabhakar, Shazahn Padamsee is now becoming a familiar face on the party circuit. She made her stage debut along side her father in a play called ‘Unspoken Dialogues’.

“It happened quite unexpectedly. My dad who is playing King Duncan in Macbeth asked me to read his lines. I had never read Shakespeare before and when my dad heard me he said I was very good. He was very surprised that it came very naturally to me.”

The camera shy Shahzahn is also gearing up to face it. “I want to be fully prepared. Channel [v] had asked me to audition for their VJ hunt, but I didn’t go. I was not very confident about being in front of a camera then. I had to get over that. Now I am getting my portfolio done and then try to get into modelling.”

Currently Shazahn is working with Bugs Bhargava’s ad-film company and is training to be a copywriter. “A friend asked me to write for a show on televisionand that is when I discovered that I really like writing.”

Though Sharon and Alyque are now separated, Shazahn shares a special bond with both her parents. “My parents are like my friends and I love hanging out with them.”

“I seek guidance from my dad, who is my rock star and I have so much respect for him. I tend to get very distracted and he keeps insisting that I get focussed. He is also very strict and very protective. Mum is from another planet altogether. She is like a very chilled out elder sister. We have our days of course, but we are on the same wavelength.”

“I have a great relationship my parents and the rest of the family. Though we don’t live together we meet often. Quasar and I are very close. Though we have different mothers, he is a brother in every true sense.”

When asked about the special someone in her life, Shazahn exclaims “My dad would kill me if I talk about relationships!” She however shares her idea of a perfect man. “I like guys in general who are comfortable being themselves. I can’t stand men or boys who are trying too hard.”

“Right now I don’t want to get into one because I have other priorities. I need toand focus on my career.We will see when the right guy and the right time comes along. I am really happy. I may meet Mr Right tomorrow, who knows, never say never.”

Sophie is a polyglot, and speaks English, Hindi, Urdu and French. She sings in these languages as well as in Spanish, Punjabi and Arabic.

She made her Hindi film debut in David Dhawan's film "Shaadi No.1" in which she is paired opposite Zayed Khan. The film also stars Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Esha Deol and others. Songs on this album include Dil Ke Armaan, Ghar aaya Mera Pardesi, Bachke Rehna re baba, Zoobi Zoobi, Naulakha, and Jaadugar Saiyyan. The Ek pardesi video showed Sophie as glamorous and endearing. This was followed up by videos of Jaadugar Saiyyan and nine other short videos from the album including the songs Naulakha, Dil ke Arman, the hip hop Kissiko, Saiyyan le Gayi Jiya and many more.

In October 2004, she won the Lycra MTV style award for "Most stylish female in music". In January 2005, she won the Bollywood award for Best pop Singer, at the Bollywood Awards held in Dubai Global Village in January 2005.

Sophie has also compared various award shows such as Star Screen Awards and several corporate events for Airtel, Tata, Godrej and many others.

In the long run, only hard work and an actor’s acting skills help,” Neha told IANS on phone from Mumbai.

“In fact, it becomes more difficult because viewers’ expectations increase manifold,” she added.

In the film, Neha plays the role of an aspiring model, Reshma, who can go to any extent to reach her goal fast.

She said: “Working with Hansal and Sikander was a wonderful experience. Sikander is very professional and full of energy all the time, which keeps your spirits high as well.

ALOO CHAAT makes you smile sporadically. At most times it's like watching a TV serial that's not hard to predict. 20 minutes into the film and you know what the culmination would be.

Nikhil [Aftab Shivdasani] hails from Delhi and is visiting his family in India. His parents start showing him Punjabi girls for wedding. Knowing the temperament of his father Purshottam [Kulbhushan Kharbanda], he feels hesitant to disclose about his love affair. Hence, he approaches his father's best friend [Manoj Pahwa], who has a great influence on his father. Together they plot to bring Nikhil's girlfriend [Aamna Sharif] into the family.

ALOO CHAAT suffers due to one major reason: It just doesn't hold your attention. The screenplay [Divya Nidhi Sharma] relies on the same old tricks and the same old situations that we've watched over and over again. You do smile at times not because the scenes are funny, but because the dialogues are witty.

Robby Grewal is letdown by a below-mediocre script. Music [Mehfuz Husain, RDB, Vipin Mishra] is soothing and a couple of melodies are tuneful. The video towards the end credits [RDB] is eye-catching. Dialogues are well penned.

Both Aftab and Aamna are limited to a few expressions. Not their fault frankly because the writing hardly gives them scope to perform. It's the supporting cast that works wonders. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Manoj Pahwa and Sanjay Mishra sparkle. Dolly Ahluwalia is okay.

Luck is more than just a decent start. It’s a fabulous start! As a movie, Luck pushes certain boundaries and takes certain risks. I liked the script and also the fact that the director has got together such an eclectic group of people.

It was wonderful. In fact, it was quite ironic and at the same time also very nice that we ended up working together. Imran and I have known each other since I was about 10 years old and we have been very good friends for a long time now. So, working with him was very comfy.

I did undergo nose surgery but due to a medical condition. I had a deviated septum, which caused breathing problems and hampered my singing. So I went in for septoplasty, which also changed the shape of my nose. Probably that’s why most people think I got a nose job!

It’s all part and parcel of the job. I’m extremely comfortable with my job and anything that comes along with it. I know that gossip and rumours are not to be taken seriously. And frankly, they don’t affect me.

Rimi Sen is one of those actresses who love to create their own style statements. “I don’t follow any trend or style. Rather than that I create my own style.” Being a brand freak she says, “I normally don’t pick up things randomly. I am quite choosy while shopping. I select few but only branded stuff. Mango, DKNY and D&G are among my favorite brands.”

She further informs that she loves to shop for herself rather than shopping for her family and friends. “Most of the time, I shop from abroad. I buy things only for myself. I never shop for others. I love Versace’s designs but there is no one specific designer I like here in India.”

Prachi has walked out of two films of Balaji Films because the two big banners with whom she has recently signed for two films have a clause that she can not work in any other films until their films have been released. She is completing Abbas Mustan's Life Partner and Mahesh Bhatt’s Jashan, both of which she signed before signing up with the new banners. Sonam was born on June 9, 1985 in Chembur, Bombay, India in the Kapoor family, which consists of Punjabi-speaking dad, Anil, Sindhi-speaking mom, Sunita (nee Bhambhani), sister, Rhea and brother, Harshwardhana. She is the niece of film-maker Boney Kapoor, and actor, Sanjay Kapoor. The family has good connections within the Indian movie industry commonly known as Bollywood. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who turned 24 recently, says she always wanted to be a star and not just another actor.

"For me, stardom is a new and novel experience... it's lovely. That's why I became a film actor... I wanted that... I wanted to act and be something. If I only wanted to be an actor, I would have done theatre. But I actually wanted to be a star and I make no bones about that," Sonam told IANS in an interview here.

Sonam, who made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with "Saawariya" and later featured in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Delhi 6", says stardom definitely brings more pressure but she knows how to manage it.

"There is added pressure but I have been brought up in a way that I am extremely confident of who I am," she said.

The actress is also aware of the three-decade-old body of work her father Anil Kapoor carries behind him and says besides looking up to him for advice, she also takes due advantage of being his daughter.

"My dad says he survived in the industry for 30 years because he didn't concentrate on what people wanted him to do, but what he was convinced about. He was not part of the rat race and that's what I am going to do - that's what I have learnt from him.

"I am not part of the rat race. I just want to do films. Having someone like him in my family is an advantage and I make complete use of the fact," she added.

Sonam is at the ongoing International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards for her first stage performance and says she is extremely nervous.

"I am nervous. I have butterflies in my stomach that are going all the way up to my head. The dress that I am wearing is very elaborate. It's by Anamika Khanna and is pink, red and black in colour and has a lot of glitter and sequins like most show outfits. I hope the outfit stays. But I am excited as well," she said

For her 24th birthday today, Sonam Kapoor could not have expected any gift like the invite that came from a leading Hollywood trade magazine to be
featured in its Gen Next section along with other young cinema stars from Asia.

Interestingly, in this day and age of the Internet and e-mail, Sonam received the good news from the friendly neighbourhood postman who dropped a letter from the magazine at the Kapoor’s JVPD residence.

“Selective young talents are being featured here. I attribute this little achievement to the India Shining movement which the world is so high on now. And also because I am Anil Kapoor’s daughter,” said the actress whose classic beauty was one of the reasons the magazine selected her.

This is the first time an Indian talent has been acknowledged in a western trade platform. “It’s very encouraging for youngsters like me and a great platform for any actor,” said Sonam.

Her own Gen Next idol is Natalie Portman, the Israeli-American actress of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and other films like Closer, Where The Heart Is. “The way she has handled her life and career fascinates me. She is intelligent, talks her mind and is socially very conscious. I totally connect with her,” said Sonam who someday hopes to work with Hollywood directors like Martin Scorcese, Sam Mendes, Pedro Almodovar, David Fincher, Mike Nicholas and Woody Allen.

“I am open to offers from world cinema. I will accept any script which has a substantial role for me from any part of the world. It could be in French, Spanish, English or any other language,” said the actress eagerly. Meanwhile, the Hollywood magazine call is not her biggest birthday gift. “My most precious gift is that my family is together on my birthday after a long time, so it’s really special,” she revealed. Celebrations are at home after which Sonam will be leaving for an international awards function.

It was said about the legendary Sahibaan that when she stepped out into the gallis of Punjab, the nine angels that guard the spheres died on seeing her beauty.

And Sonam Kapoor, Bollywood's IT girl, is all set to play the ethereal Sahibaan in an ambitious screen adaptation by filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

While there have been many screen adaptations in Hindi and Punjabi of legendary romances like Heer-Ranjha, Laila-Majnu and Sohni-Mahiwal, so far no prominent film in Hindi is based on the Mirza-Sahibaan love story. And it's probably because of the complicated nature of their relationship.

According to sources, the idea came to Rakeysh during the making of Delhi-6.

"Rakeysh would address Sonam as 'Bittu', the character she played in Delhi-6. Then suddenly one day he started calling Sonam 'Sahibaan'. At first Sonam was baffled by this new name from Rakeysh who would pamper her to no end. But as the historical perspective and the literary antecedents of the character began to seep in, Sonam grew excited about the project and began
to pester Rakeysh about the project," said the source. For the actress, who is at the moment busy playing the Delhi socialite's version in Ayesha, which is based on Jane Austen's Emma, this would be the first occasion to do a costume drama. The fact that Sonam had was dressed in elaborate costumes in her debut Saawariya gave Rakeysh the idea that his 'Bittu' could indeed be his 'Sahibaan'.

It's not yet known who will play Sahibaan's lover, Mirza. But rumours have it that Abhishek Bachchan will play the role.

Confirming that Mirza-Sahibaan is indeed in the pipeline, Rakeysh Mehra
said, "But, I still have to get down to writing it."

About Mirza Sahibaan

Mirza and Sahibaan were cousins and childhood playmates who fell in love with each other. When Sahibaan was promised to another suitor, she sent a message to Mirza asking him to rescue her, which he did on her wedding day. After travelling for some time, the couple decided to rest for some time. However, when Sahibaan's brothers learnt that the couple has eloped, they went in search for her. When Mirza was asleep, Sahiban feared that Mirza would kill her brothers.

So she quietly took Mirza's quiver and hung it on a branch, out of his reach. When her brothers caught up with them, Sahibaan woke up Mirza who reached for his quiver. But before that one of her brothers' arrows hit him. Before dying, Mirza looked accusingly at Sahibaan and said, "Bura kitoyee Sahibaan, mera turkish tangiya jand!" Which means: Sahibaan, you did a terrible thing by hanging the quiver away from my reach! A sobbing Sahibaan threw herself over Mirza's body to cover him from being injured further. She too died.

Deepika says, "I always read up on any new place I travel to and familarise myself with a few words and the history about the place and the people. I love languages. I learnt French in college and picked up a few Spanish words after coming here and used them in my speech.

In fact, her fondness for painting doesn't seem to leave the actress. Even during the shoot of Karthik Calling Karthik with Farhan Akhtar, Deepika ended up pursuing art once again.
"I think it's a bonus to be able to paint on the sets. It made me realise that I need to take some time off and get back to doing certain things that I really enjoy," she adds.

Surprisingly, my character in Love Aaj Kal is also into painting. I think Imtiaz has probably spied on me before coming up with this character as there are so many similarities."
However, the actress didn't know that the crew of the film would lap up her artworks.
"There was a canvas and paint on the set; in between shots, I would make something. It was something very random. For me, painting is a form of relaxation and it's de-stressing. Later on, I found out that certain members of the crew took my work home and which now adorn their walls."
It's a bonus

Not many know that Deepika Padukone has a hidden talent. The actress admits that she's also into painting. During the shoot of Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal, Deepika ended up painting a couple of frescoes which have now made their way into the homes of the cast and crew of the film.

Says Deepika, "I love painting. I remember during my school days, I would always get an A grade in art class."
She adds, "In fact, many of my friends would ask me to paint for them and then they would get good marks in class.

I was the Chief Guest for the Vanitha Nippon Awards that was held on Saturday, March 7th, 2009.
Last Monday (Oct 8) was a memorable day in my life, as I completed work on the magnum opus Dashaavtaram. My last day shoot with Kamal Hassan was in Uthandi, a coastal village on east Coast Road near Chennai.
Incidentally, I had started the shoot of the film in Uthandi on September 11, 2006 after attending the wedding of Suriya and Jyotika. And now 13 months later, my last day shoot was also in Uthandi! And Dashaavtaram is going to be a landmark film in my career.

If I were to say that working with Kamal sir was a learning experience, it may sound clichéd, but it is a fact. I feel that after working with sir, I have graduated from the best acting university. Dashaavtaram will surely be one of the best film in my career and I have to thank director K.S.Ravikumar and the entire team. And today (Oct 11) Kamal sir will also complete his portion and with that the entire shoot of Dashaavtaram will wrapped up and the film will be ready for a Pongal 2008 release.

I came back to Chennai on December 17th to meet the winners of 'Meet and Greet Asin Contest' organised by Tata Indicom. This was also a great time to be in the city as my debut Hindi movie Ghajini is all set to release on December 25th, 2008. I was very happy to meet the contest winners and fans.

I am very excited about my films that are hitting the screens. Dasavathaaram with the legendary actor Kamal Haasan is definitely one of the biggest films ever in Tamil. The film will also be released in Telugu and Hindi. The music is already very popular. Another film is the Hindi remake of my Tamil hit Ghajini . I am very honoured to be debuting in Hindi with one of the topmost actors in Bollywood today, Aamir Khan. I am sure that all my fans will be very happy with both my films.

In 2005 diwali, I had ‘SIVAKASI’ with Vijay that year’s biggest winner, while in 2006, it was ‘VARALARU’ (GodFather) with Ajith, yet another superhit. And now it is a hat-trick of Diwali hits with ‘VEL’ where I’m paired with Suriya. ‘VEL’ is topping the chart fast heading towards a superhit. I am extremely happy and thank all my viewers and fans all over the world for this awesome success ratio and the hattrick of superhits during the festival of lights.

After months of living at the hotel Green Park in Chennai, Asin and her family have finally moved into a lovely home on Harrington Road in Chetpet, Chennai. Asin said that she and her dad were tired of living out of suitcases and wanted something more permanent and. well, like home. Her mother, Celine has also moved in from Kerala with them and the whole house has a warm and comforting atmosphere.

Asin said that the staff and management of Green Park have always been very helpful and professional, but it was great to have a home to live in!

“Look at Yash Raj productions. In their films too you find skin show on a regular basis. However, what works in their favour is the fact that a) these scenes are aesthetically done and b) they know how to market their films and project their heroines”, she sighs.

Payal was a software engineer who had lot of expectations in her acting career when she entered bollywood. Ex-inmate of last season’s BIG BOSS, Payal Rohatgi, has explored the root cause behind her initial stint with Bollywood being not as successful as she had envisaged. She confesses that the biggest goof up of her career was to indulge into skin shows in movies that were not male dominated.

“My biggest goof up earlier on was to expose in women oriented films. This turned out to be a huge drawback for me as I didn’t know the nuances of film making at that time. I didn’t know from where did the projects come from, what would they depict of me and how would they be eventually marketed”, says Payal who came from a middle class background and decided to take Bollywood by storm all on her own.

Madhuri’s success rate tapered until the 1997 release Yash Chopra’s Dil to Paagal Hai as Pooja, a dancer. In 2000, she faced Anil Kapoor once again in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Pukar as Anjali who wreaks havoc in the life of Major Jaidev Rajvansh. She was also seen in M.F.Hussain’s Gaja Gamini. The movie famously inspired by her, explores the different facets of a woman.
Ghai did not give up on the Maharashtrian beauty and re-introduced her in Ram Lakhan. The film succeeded in exposing Madhuri's beauty and people dubbed her as the reincarnation of Madhubala.

The film that cut the ice and established Madhuri in the big league was N Chandra's Tezaab. The film was a huge success and the Saroj Khan-choreographed 'Ek do teen' entered the hallmark of extremely popular dance numbers. The item with a liberal dose of jhatkas not only propelled Madhuri towards stardom, it also established Saroj Khan as a hot dance director.
In 1993, Khalnayak with Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff was a blockbuster while her dance sequence Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai created ripples as she sets off to trap the criminal Ballu. 1984 to 1989 Madhuri’s first movie was Abodh in 1984 and after a few forgettable performances, she appeared in Dayavan, a remake of the Tamil hit Nayagan, with Vinod Khanna and Feroz Khan. Tezaab with Anil Kapoor became a box office hit and she followed this with performances in Ram Lakhan, Prem Prathiyaga, Tridev and Parinda which became India’s official entry to the Oscars. Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor enjoyed a successful chemistry on screen and worked together in many movies.
1990 to 1995 Madhuri won the Filmfare Best Actress Award in 1990 for her role as Madhu in Indra Kumar’s Dil opposite Aamir Khan. Saajan, a love triangle, starring Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt did good business in 1991. She starred with Anil Kapoor in 1992 in movies like Khel, Zindagi Ek Jua and Beta. One of Madhuri’s most famous dance sequences Dhak Dhak Karne Laga was from Beta. She won another Filmfare Best Actress Award.
After Tezaab, producers and directors waited for months to let Madhuri's dates coincide with Saroj's. Meanwhile, Subhash Ghai was still carving out a strategy to present Madhuri as the successor to the then reigning queen Sridevi. Khalnayak fulfilled his dream. Madhuri Dixit became the next super girl with 'Choli ke peeche'.

Ek Do Teen
Madhuri Shankar Dixit was born on 15th May 1967 into a Marathi Brahmin family in Mumbai, India. Her parents are Shankar and Snehalata Dixit. She is the youngest of four children. She has two older sisters Rupa and Bharati and an older brother Ajit.
Madhuri studied at the Parle College and considered a future in micro-biology. She also trained in Kathak for over eight years.
She was linked with actor Sanjay Dutt before she married Sriram Madhav Nene, a surgeon based in the USA in 1999. They have two sons, Arin born in 2003 and Ryan in 2005. The family lives in Denver, Colorado.
The Government of India conferred Madhuri the Padma Shri Award, the highest civilian award in 2008.
Madhuri still reins but marriage has made changes in her list of priorities. She has cut down on her assignments and spends more time with her medico husband based in Los Angeles.

Yes, I am glad about that fact. Mithiya is a lovely movie. I remember on my first day on the sets, I was told very politely, we are all actors, not stars, and everyone is treated in that manner. It was a good thing.

So do you break away from the sexy image in this one?
I play a struggling actor, so the gloss is there, but what is also there is scope. We indulged in ‘real cinema’. That was the difference. I met people who made movies just out of sheer passion and for the love of cinema.

Does a woman-banker go with her mommy to the bank or a sales girl with her mommy to sell products? Then why the need for my mom to accompany me on the sets? I am independent that way, and can hold my own. Also, about the bikini, it was no big deal. And it’s not like I am taking off my clothes in every film. What do people expect? Do they want me to wear a burkha or do they want to see me draped in a sari? Frankly, I’m quite a water baby and was having a blast in my bikini.

Another actor-sportsman affair bites the dust. Neha Dhupia and squash player Ritwik Bhattacharya have apparently split. The break-up came to the fore during the Sunburn Festival that was held in Goa a few days back, where to everyone’s surprise, the duo completely ignored each other. Says an eyewitness, “We all were surprised to find Neha and Ritwik studiously avoiding each other at the event.”

A friend of Neha confirms that the two have indeed broken up. “The relationship didn’t work because Neha kept postponing the marriage on some pretext or the other.” The friend adds, “It’s true that Neha had agreed to marry Ritwik but she didn’t share his enthusiasm as far as marriage was concerned.”
